Fleece component: Insulation provided by air

The fleece component is designed to trap air in the space formed by its texture; this air acts as a natural insulator, keeping the body warm. It is the brushing of the knit fabric that traps the air.

REDUCED ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Did you know that a plastic bottle takes 100 to 1000 years to biodegrade? We developed a fleece knit made of recycled polyester. It comes from recycled industrial scraps and plastic bottles (recycled polyester from 65% bottles and 35% recycled threads).

By using recycled polyester, no new oil-based resources are used. Waste is transformed into resources that can be used again.

Durability of the components

Resistance to wear and abrasion test: for example, we check that the fleeces do not pill using tests conducted in laboratories. Color-retention test: the colorfastness is verified to ensure that the colors do not bleed when coming into contact with saliva. Aging test: repeated washing should not affect the fabric’s properties, behavior, thickness or appearance.

A score for comparing products’ environmental impact

Decathlon is the first French company to have introduced environmental rating. This rating has been developed with ADEME (Environment and Energy Management Agency) as well as other French companies. It allows products’ environmental impact to be assessed using a scale from A to E, A being the best score.

Ecodesign : Fabric made from recycled bottles. The environmental impact is reduced

Breathability : Polyester knit: allows water vapor generated by the body to escape (RET=6.3)

Lightweight : Weighs 3.9 oz in size 5-6 yrs compressible to be carried at the bottom of a bag.

Easy to maintain : Machine-washable at 104°F, quick-drying, no need to iron (wrinkle-free).
